Anne Bailey
Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine

Welcome

Anne Bailey, MPH, LAc

My background

Acupuncture and herbal medicine is actually my second career. The first was working on the methodology and analysis side of research at UCSD with a master of public health degree in epidemiology. During this time I also completed a degree in traditional Asian medicine. I've worked in primary care at an Indian Health Services clinic for the past 20 years.

Doing research is (mostly) fun and interesting. It's like putting a puzzle together. In clinic work, we're also solving a puzzle, but it's a shared effort between the patient and the practitioner. One of the strengths of treating with acupuncture and herbal medicine is that we can improve health and well-being wherever someone is on the health - disease continuum.

My experience

Because I've acquired most of my clinic experience in primary care, I'm very much a general practitioner. My experience includes:

* Musculoskeletal pain (back, knees, shoulders, hands, etc.)

* Tension headache and migraine

* Stress

* Peripheral neuropathy, Bell's palsy

* Digestive disorders (bloating, heartburn)

* Women's health (although I've successfully treated infertility, it's a subspeciality within our field and I would be happy to help you find a practitioner with this certification)

* Common cold, allergies, lingering cough

My ethic

I don't advocate over-treating. We'll discuss what we can realistically accomplish and decide from there. In some cases, taking an herb formula is a great way to manage symptoms and minimize the number of acupuncture treatments.
